| Like the manna that sustained the Israelites as they wandered for forty years before reaching the Promised Land, the Eucharist is food for our journey to heaven. In fact, it literally gives us a taste of heaven on earth because it unites us in communion with both God and those who are also in communion with him. As an act of thanksgiving and an opportunity to offer ourselves to God, the Eucharist empowers us to go and tell everyone the good news of his love—a love that humbles itself to dwell within us in the form of bread.
